As part of our letter C activities, I’m teaching my kids more about coins. To help them learn to identify quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, I created this simple money emergent reader.
Free money emergent reader
The book has a cover and five pages. Each page has a simple sentence. The pages introduce the dollar, quarter, dime, nickel, and penny.
I created three versions of the book. The first version has a blank rectangle for the dollar bill and blank circles for the coins. Give your child a dollar bill and coins. By listening to you read the book (or reading it himself), your child will determine what coin belongs on each page. You can see my older preschooler reading the book and matching the money in this quick video.
Get this version of the reader HERE.
Another version of the book has the actual images of the coins in black and white. Get it HERE.
Finally, you may print a color version of the reader HERE.
I’ll be sharing many more creative ways to learn about coins in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!
