Let’s practice reading ay and ai words!

Simple follow the path game for teaching ai words and ay words

Did you see our War card game for ai and ay words?  Today I’m sharing a simple follow the path game that teaches the same phonics patterns.

Simple follow the path game for teaching ai words and ay words

The first two games in the pack review the ay pattern (as in hay) and the ai pattern (as in rain).  Each board game features just one of the patterns.

Simple follow the path game for teaching ai words and ay words

When your child is ready, pull out Game 3.  It includes both the ai and ay patterns.

To play:

  • Grab a die and playing pieces.
  • Take turns rolling the die and moving along the board.
  • When you land on a word, read it aloud.
  • When you land on bad weather (a lightning bolt or tornado cloud), move backward two spaces.
  • The first to get to the rain cloud, wins!

Enjoy!

    hi mam

more and more games to play. my printer ink goes off soon on taking the printables. me and my class children do not know which one to play and we have more activities but no time to spend in school. Usually our children are not interested in English as they are from remote village. As a second language now they only apt for the English class other than any other subject class.

    Thankyou so much.

You are such a blessing! Our school district took a major cut in the budget and I had been looking for free materials. I have used some of your other items and my students love them. I am looking forward to using this one too. You have no idea how much you have helped this SpEd Teacher, from a small district. Thank you so much!!!

Thank you for providing such a great resource for free!! I just wanted to let you know that on the game board for ai words, I found one small error. If you look to the left of the directions there is an ay word (pray). I just wanted to bring this to your attention and to see if it would be possible for you to edit. I look forward to using this resource. Thanks for all of your hard work!!
