Hey … where are the sight word books?

Are you looking for my original sight word books?

I created those books beginning in 2013.

As much as I loved my little sight word books, I’ve learned that they aren’t the best approach when teaching new readers.

Why not?

My original sight word books required readers to use pictures to help them solve words. I created them this way because I learned in graduate school that teaching young readers multiple cues for solving words was important for beginning readers.

But research is telling us that this isn’t how the brain learns to read.

In fact, teaching kids to use pictures to help them solve words can actually teach them bad habits that are hard to break later on.

In good conscience, I am no longer sharing my original sight word books. They are no longer available on this site or in my shop.

Not to worry … I’ve got something better!

I’ve created hands-on lessons for 240 sight words … and each one includes a decodable book featuring the sight word.

You can get 30 sight word lessons and books for FREE by clicking on the images below!
