Honey Whole Wheat Banana Bread

We love this healthy whole wheat banana bread! Turns out perfect every time!

 

For years, I looked for a tasty, low-sugar banana bread.  I substituted honey for sugar, I replaced the all-purpose with whole wheat… yet I could never achieve the right taste or consistency.  Then one day I discovered this recipe.  It’s perfect.  Whole wheat, no sugar, healthy oil.  It turns out perfect every time.  And so delicious.  We just had a loaf with our hearty chicken wild rice soup.  

The recipe is from Cookie + Kate.  Here are the ingredients:

Honey Whole Wheat Banana Bread

makes 12 slices

  • 1/3 cup coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup mashed bananas
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 3/4 cups whole wheat pastry flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips, optional
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, optional

  • 186 calories
  • 7 g fat
  • 30 g carbohydrates
  • 3 g fiber
  • 4 g protein

with walnuts:

      • 202 calories
      • 9 g fat
      • 30 g carbohydrates

        • 5 g protein
