Have you seen our little letter books? Today I’m sharing a printable letter book of rhymes and songs for letter N.
Free Letter Book of Rhymes & Songs – Letter N
My free letter books each contain six rhymes and songs just right for toddlers and preschoolers. I began creating these books when my 2 1/2 year old knew just a handful of letters. Since he loved music, I thought that connecting letters to familiar nursery rhymes and songs would help him start to recognize the alphabet.
It worked!
Now he’s 3 1/2 and has many of his letter books memorized. Some books are easier to create than others — and the letter N book was one of the tougher ones! So forgive me for including some less familiar rhymes in this letter book. 🙂
Here are all the rhymes and songs you’ll find in the Little Letter “N” book:
N is for Night (sung to the tune of “Twinkle Twinkle”)
Here’s a lesser known verse of the familiar song “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.”
When the blazing sun is gone,
When he nothing shines upon,
Then you show your little light.
Twinkle, twinkle, all the night.
When the blazing sun is gone
Then he nothing shines upon.
N is for Nuts in May (sung to the tune of “Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush”)
Here we go gathering nuts in May,
Nuts in may, nuts in May.
Here we go gathering nuts in May,
On a cold and frosty morning.
N is for Nail (also sung to the tune of “Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush”)
This is the way we pound our nails,
pound our nails, pound our nails,
This is the way we pound our nails,
So early in the morning.
N is for Nose (you can act this one out!)
On my face, I have a nose.
And way down here I have ten toes.
I have two eyes that help me blink.
I have a head to help me think.
I have a chin and very near I have two ears so I can hear.
And here are my arms to hold up high.
And here is my hand to wave goodbye.
N is for Nail (from a lesser-known nursery rhyme dating back at least 500 years)
For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the message was lost.
For want of a message the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.
N is for Nut Tree
I had a little nut tree.
Nothing would it bear,
But a silver nutmeg
And a golden pear.
How to assemble my Little Letter Books:
- Print the document in color (if you desire) on cardstock. Be sure to print pages 2-3 front to back (page 1 is my Terms of Use). You will need only one piece of paper.
- Cut an even line across the center of the page.
- Fold the two sheets to make a book. Make sure the cover is in front, and insert the other page inside.
- Staple with a long arm stapler.

I’m so glad you can use these little books! They haven’t caught on as much as I’d like, but they’ve been very useful at our own house. 🙂
