Giving our kids time with play dough is important. (Here are six reasons why.) We’ve recently made play dough a regular activity at our house (after a time of keeping it locked away for this mom’s sanity!). The other day we made a new batch of play dough using this no-cook recipe, and the kids had fun using craft items to make their creations.
My oldest two (ages 5 and 4) were busy for over an hour making these cookies. They grabbed a fork from the drawer to criss-cross the cookies and then used all the decorative buttons I bought from Michaels. They baked the cookies over on the couch.
My son had fun pushing these colorful gems into his play dough to make a path.
It was fun to poke holes with craft sticks.
My daughter used craft sticks, googly eyes, gems, buttons, and jewels to make her monsters.
We squished shiny mosaic tiles into the dough.
Here are the craft items we’ve been using:
- googly eyes
- buttons
- decorative buttons
- mosaic tiles
- gems
- plastic jewels
- shells
- craft sticks
