This simple verb game is perfect for introducing action verbs!
Many of you have asked for games to reinforce basic grammar concepts. Here’s a simple game for introducing action verbs.
Children simply take turns moving around the board with a die. They name the verb depicted in the picture (or one that would make sense).
Next, they write the verb in the appropriate column on the recording sheet. Is the verb something they like to do, something they don’t like to do, or something they’re not sure about?
It kills me that my Seven doesn’t like to read (gah!). Thankfully he’s a strong reader and is learning to enjoy our family read alouds.
But I digress. 😉
I hope you can use this simple game for introducing verbs!

Love these games, but I wish I had a key to this verb game. Some of these I can’t figure out or not sure…..others seem repeated, but because the picture is not the same, I’m not sure…..
I try to recommend you to everyone I can! I’ve been following you for quite a few years now! :o)
Thank you!

Hi Carolyn! I didn’t create an answer key because it’s really okay what kids choose to name each picture, as long as it’s an action verb. 🙂

Thank you for the verb games. Love them. I will be listing the verbs from the pictures on a separate sheet for my students who may need extra help. Differentiated learning.

My seven does not like reading either but he’ll sit perfectly still for hours while I read novels aloud!! Please tell me he’ll like it one day!
Anna G
The fact that he will listen for hours is a VERY good sign! I definitely think he’ll learn to love it. 🙂
